Becoming a Member

You should consider joining ACFA if you are:

  • Operating, or considering operating a crowdfunding platform in an African country;
  • A regulatory or government authority in an African country interested in leveraging crowdfunding for small business financing;
  • A services provider to alternative finance industry, such as digital payments, white label platforms, KYC software, etc.
  • A law firm active in Africa seeking to build an expertise in crowdfunding to provide transaction advisory and services to small businesses, and regulatory services to platforms.
  • A consulting firm in Africa interested in providing services along the fundraising value chain, such as investment readiness, investor relations, reporting and governance, etc;
  • An angel investor or network, a venture capital fund, a development finance institute or private equity group looking for alternative investment vehicles in Africa.
  • A foundation or donor-sponsored entity promoting financial inclusion in Africa, especially in the “missing middle” finance gap.

Membership will enable you to:

  • Contribute to industry best practices and self-regulation
  • Publicise your job opportunities online
  • Become known as a thought leader on crowdfunding policy in Africa
  • Leverage new networks by actively participating in our meetings and events
  • Access inside industry knowledge and share information with stakeholders
  • Reinforce your image as a crowdfunding professional

Our members must comply with our Principles and collaborate towards our common goals.  The relevant annual fees are needed to ensure the success and longevity of ACFA. We also encourage our members to support the organisation with their unique expertise as contributors in policy debates, surveys, reviewing our publications and in order to build our expertise. You can cancel your commitment at any time, but paid contributions will not be reimbursed. You will receive an invoice for the relevant amount.

Membership Benefits and Fees

ACFA accepts applications for three forms of Membership: the Full Member, the Premium Associate Member and the Supporting Associate Member. Each membership runs for a maximum of one calendar year, ending on 31 December. We highly recommend that start up companies contact us regarding fee reductions and waivers.
